Purpose of role

Due to significant instructions from existing clients, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate 6+ Years PQE with non-contentious technology, outsourcing and general commercial experience to join our highly talented and award-winning Milton Keynes TMT department.  They will be working with one of the UK's top TMT teams, tier 1 ranked in technology and telecoms, commercial contracts and data protection, and will have the opportunity to be involved in some of the most innovative work in the field, supported by our team of over 50 colleagues.

The fast-growing Milton Keynes TMT team is tier 1 for both sports and commercial and tier 2 for IT and telecoms. You will have the opportunity to work with household names such as John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Chanel, NHBC, Royal Mail, Network Rail, Sainsbury's, Virgin Group, Silverstone Circuits and TJX.

You will be given the opportunity to work across a diverse range of types of work across different sectors including TMT, Intellectual Property, Government and Energy.  We are particularly strong in the Retail sector, with significant expertise in supply chain and retail models and also very strong in the Sports sector; you will have the chance to be involved in that type of work if that is of interest.

Our approach is to create a supportive environment by working collaboratively as part of a team servicing particular clients or sectors.  You will be involved in a mixture of technology and commercial deals, some large where you are working as part of a team, and others where you will be able to operate with a greater degree of independence.

The department has a strong teamwork ethic and a first class client management approach.  It is essential that candidates are team players and committed to developing personally and professionally.  A determination to deliver high-quality focused services to our clients is essential, as is maintaining and developing client relationships.

Required experience, skills and attributes
  • Candidates are expected to have technology awareness
  • Having experience working on similar work for sophisticated clients is desired
  • Exceptional drafting skills and legal research ability

  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills, coupled with good business awareness
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and drive and take control of own career development
  • You will be a team player and sociable
  • A track record of supervising and developing others would be advantageous.
